Measuring just 5cm x 5cm, this is a refined and charming survivor from the Edwardian / Art Nouveau period.

The pressed metal surround features softly modelled geometric and floral detailing, typical of the era, with a naturally aged patina that enhances the depth of the design. Set into the circular aperture is a romantic, softly coloured female portrait, with the dreamy, hand-tinted appearance associated with early 1900s decorative imagery.

The piece is very light and very thin, and the reverse is plain and unfinished, suggesting it once sat flush against another surface — most likely mounted to the lid of a jewellery box, keepsake, vanity item, or similar decorative object.
