Antique victorian brass pot. This large brass pot may have been for jam making or for hanging over an open fire. These pans were used for the purpose of making a large amount of fresh jam and preserves. The brass conducted heat quickly and evenly with no hot spots on the bottom of the pan, allowing for greater control. The pans heated up faster, then cool down faster when taken from the heat.
