Vintage French wine tasting cup bourgognes patriache 7 1/2 cm diameter probably continental silver plate but no hall marksThe saucer-like cups were originally created by Burgundian winemakers (where a very high-level wine society called the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, was named after the tasting cup) to enable them to judge the clarity and colour of wine that was stored in dim, candle-lit wine cellars.
A fresh and fruity Burgundian Chardonnay with notes of citrus fruits, dried fruits combined with pleasant vanilla notes and an underlying minerality. A long and pleasing finish
With over 240 years of experience, Patriarche is one of the oldest established Négociant-Eleveurs in Burgundy.
A rich historic heritage symbolized by its cellars and vaulted galleries that stretch beneath Beaune.
Since 1780
Patriarche has been the key ambassador for the prestigious Burgundy appellations and their great terroirs.
As négociant-éleveur, Patriarche’s scope of action is large: it starts with the supervision of the plots and selecting grapes and continues by vinifying and maturing the wines. It is during the ageing process that the wines develop their substance and structure, creating their true potential.
Each of these stages give the style, identity and signature of the great house of Patriarche, which today houses 3 million bottles in its cellars.
– MARYLINE
Patriarche has forged long-standing relationships with its partner properties, some of which go back over generations. 80% of the winegrowers maintain their loyal collaboration with Patriarche, year in, year out. They all understand our style and requirements very well, which allows them to present suitable lots for our consideration. From December onwards, each lot is selected according to several criteria. First, tasting is indispensable to select the highest quality wine. Then, laboratory analyses verify that the lot conforms to the appellation’s specifications. Its potential for blending is also taken into account, as its organoleptic profile must bring harmony and balance to the whole.
