Vintage German Enamel Mehl Flour Wall Box | Rustic White & Blue Enamel Kitchenalia c.1930s

A wonderfully characterful vintage German enamel “Mehl” wall box, once used for storing flour in a traditional kitchen or pantry. “Mehl” is German for flour, making this a charming piece of European domestic history with strong farmhouse, country kitchen and vintage pantry appeal.

Made from enamelled metal, this wall-mounted flour container has a classic white enamel finish with a deep blue rolled rim and bold black Gothic-style lettering to the front. The shaped back plate has a hanging hole at the top and further fixing holes, showing how it would once have been secured to a kitchen wall, dresser or pantry area for everyday use.

Dating most likely from the early 20th century, around the 1920s–1930s, this piece has exactly the kind of timeworn surface collectors love in antique and vintage enamelware. The enamel has chips, rust marks, staining, crazing and age-related wear throughout, particularly around the rim, fixing holes, seams and base. There is also visible wear/damage to the lower edge and side area, as shown in the photographs. The container is open-topped as photographed, with no lid present.

Today, it makes a beautiful decorative display piece for a rustic kitchen, farmhouse interior, vintage pantry, cottage-style home, café display or collector’s enamelware wall arrangement. It could be styled with dried flowers, old wooden utensils, vintage recipe books or simply displayed as an authentic piece of European kitchen history.
