This is a vintage amber glass Lysol disinfectant bottle, most likely used for Lysol liquid disinfectant / antiseptic solution, which was historically sold in brown glass bottles with warnings such as “Not To Be Taken” because it was poisonous if swallowed.

A characterful vintage amber glass Lysol bottle, moulded in warm honey-brown glass with raised diamond lattice detailing and embossed warning wording around the shoulder, including “NOT TO BE TAKEN”.

The front panel carries the embossed Lysol name, though the lettering has softened slightly with age and the natural distortion of the glass. Bottles like this were used for Lysol disinfectant, a strong household and medical antiseptic cleaner widely associated with chemists, domestic hygiene, sick-room care and early 20th-century household cleaning.

The raised diamond pattern was not just decorative — it gave the bottle a tactile warning surface, helping distinguish it from ordinary medicine or drinks bottles by touch as well as sight. The deep amber glass also gives it a wonderful period look, making it ideal for an apothecary display, chemist bottle collection, curiosity cabinet, bathroom shelf, prop styling or social history collection.

Condition:
