Vintage German Plastic Dominoes Set by Kunststoffwerke Boge GmbH c.1960s
Step back in time with this charming mid-century dominoes set, manufactured by the renowned Kunststoffwerke Boge GmbH (KBG) of West Germany. Dating to around the 1960s, this classic set captures the simplicity and durability of early plastic household goods produced during Europe’s postwar boom.
-
The dominoes are made from a creamy white phenolic-style plastic, typical of the era, with crisp black inset pips for easy reading. The reverse of each domino tile is decorated with an attractive geometric pattern, both decorative and practical, helping to reduce slipping during play. The original storage box is molded in the same durable plastic and clearly embossed with “DOMINOES” on the lid.
-
On the underside of the box, you’ll find the distinct hexagonal KBG mark and the mold number 1656/2, a testament to Boge’s efficient and highly organized mold-tracking system. Kunststoffwerke Boge GmbH was an influential West German plastics company in the mid-20th century, producing a wide range of high-quality household goods and games for European department stores and export.
