Sanenwood was a company and a material produced from a mixture of wood pulp and resin, starting in 1954 and ceasing operations in the mid-1970s. Founded to exploit a patent by Harold Sanderson, it was initially used for composite resin sheets like those found in trays. Later, the company, known as Sanenwood Products Ltd, diversified to sell other products with wooden handles, but these were made from real, treated wood.
Origin: The company, Sanenwood Products Ltd, was established in 1954 to utilize a patent for a composite resin sheet material by Harold Sanderson.
Material: The name "Sanenwood" could refer to either the company's early resin-based material or its later products using real, specially treated wood.
Products: Initially, it made composite resin sheets for items like trays. Later, under the management of Robert Laurie Walsh, it sold a variety of products, including wooden-handled cutlery, toast racks, and hors d'oeuvres dishes, which were made from real wood treated to resist heat and moisture.
Trademark: The trademarks were "SANENWOOD" and "SANEN".
End of operations: The company ceased business in the mid-1970s.
