Vintage silver plated/Chrome Toast Rack with Loop Handle – c.1930s–1940s

Vintage silver plated/Chrome Toast Rack with Loop Handle – c.1930s–1940s art deco inspired

.

A stylish vintage chrome-plated/ silver plated toast rack, beautifully designed with six evenly spaced arched divisions and a sculptural loop handle rising from the centre. Raised on four spherical ball feet, this piece has a distinctly Art Deco to early mid-century feel, combining practicality with understated elegance.

.

The form is both balanced and architectural, making it as decorative as it is functional. It would sit perfectly on a breakfast table, sideboard or kitchen dresser – or could even be repurposed for letters, napkins or vinyl records in a modern interior.

.

Possible maker:

While unmarked, the quality of the chrome finish, the ball feet and the overall construction are reminiscent of British makers such as Walker & Hall, EPNS tableware manufacturers, or mid-century firms like James Dixon & Sons, all of whom produced similar domestic silver-plate and chrome wares during the 1930s–50s. Without a stamp, it is best described as attributed rather than confirmed.

.

Details:

Material: Chrome-plated metal or possibly silver plated but surprisingly and unfortunately no hallmarks so have to sell as white metal

Style: Art Deco / early Mid-Century Modern

Capacity: 6 toast slices

Features: Central loop handle, ball feet base

Condition: Very good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age; no bends or structural issues

.

Dimensions (approx.):

Width 16 cm | Depth 9 cm | Height 14 cm

.

Why we love it:

It’s one of those quietly confident pieces – useful, well-made, and timeless. Exactly the sort of everyday object that elevates a table without shouting about it.
