The graphic design is very attractive, but the metric weight marking 600g suggests this is more likely late 20th century rather than an early antique tin. Similar Jacob’s cracker tins tend to sit around the £25 range depending on condition and rarity.

A wonderfully decorative vintage Jacob & Co’s Extra Light Cream Crackers tin, with a striking turquoise blue, black and white design featuring bold typography, wheat sheaves and the classic Jacob’s branding. Originally produced for Jacob’s Cream Crackers, this empty advertising tin now makes a charming piece of vintage kitchenalia, ideal for display, storage, styling or collectors of British biscuit and grocery packaging.

The front reads “Jacob & Co’s Extra Light Cream Crackers”, with the Jacob’s logo and the original net weight shown as 21.2oz / 1lb 5.2oz / 600g. The lower text states “Made in England by W. & R. Jacob & Co. (Liverpool) Reading”, linking it to the English arm of the famous Jacob’s biscuit company.

The tin has a lovely nostalgic look, with crisp Art Deco-inspired lettering and a strong period-style advertising design. It would sit beautifully in a vintage kitchen, pantry, café display, shop display, prop setting or collector’s shelf.

Jacob’s began with brothers William and Robert Jacob, who founded the business in 1851. The company originated in Ireland and became one of the best-known biscuit and cracker makers in Britain and Ireland, particularly famous for its Cream Crackers. The official Jacob’s history notes the brand’s long association with Irish homes for more than 150 years, while historical sources trace the firm’s development from Waterford and Dublin into a major biscuit manufacturer.

The English Jacob’s operation developed separately, with production associated with Liverpool and later other sites. This tin carries the wording W. & R. Jacob & Co. (Liverpool) Reading, which places it within that English manufacturing and distribution tradition. Jacob’s Cream Crackers became one of the company’s most recognisable products and remain strongly associated with British pantry culture.

Condition
