Vintage 1950s Pifco electric tie press
Vintage 1950s Pifco electric tie press (never been used as new). Incredibly this tie press, we believe has never been used, although the box has minor marks /fading etc. The press itself is in remarkable condition with original wrapping and instructions ( obviously cannot be used - purely decorative item). It has a 2 pin bakelite plug and bakelite handle and is in perfect condition.

Pifco made tie presses in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England around 1955. Pifco was the brand name of the Provincial Incandescent Fittings Company, which was founded in 1900 by Joseph Webber.
Explanation
Pifco was originally a shop that sold gas lighting appliances and accessories.
In the 1930s, Pifco became a leader in the market for battery-powered bicycle lights.
Pifco also made electric trouser pressers that could be used to press creases into trousers and skirts, and to smooth out ties and collars.
Vintage Pifco electric trouser pressers are collectible items that can be used as props or pieces of interest.
The Science Museum Group Collection has a tie press made by Pifco Ltd from around 1955.
