A wonderfully characterful mid-20th-century commercial laundry box, originally used by The Park Laundry, Warwick. Finished in its original blue top covering with bold hand-stencilled lettering, this is a superb survivor from Britain’s post-war service industry.

The box retains its original leatherette corner protectors, riveted metal edging, and the all-important internal paper guarantee label, dated July 1955, confirming manufacture by The Enfield Box Co. Ltd. That label alone is a gem—clear provenance, period typography, and a tangible link to mid-century British manufacturing standards.

The Enfield Box Company was a well-respected British manufacturer specialising in robust wooden and fibreboard boxes, trunks, and transit cases for commercial and industrial use. Active throughout the first half of the 20th century, the company supplied packaging solutions to laundries, department stores, manufacturers, and exporters. Their products were designed for repeat handling, stacking, and transport, which explains why this box remains structurally sound nearly 70 years on.
