Vintage William Crawford & Sons “Parrot” Biscuit Tin – Free Sample Art Deco Sale
Vintage William Crawford & Sons “Parrot” Biscuit Tin – Free Sample Art Deco Salesman’s Tin (c.1935–1948)
-
Bring a touch of Art Deco charm to your home with this beautifully illustrated vintage biscuit tin by William Crawford & Sons Ltd., one of Britain’s most respected biscuit manufacturers. This rare piece wasn’t a retail tin — it was issued as a “Free Sample” promotional tin, carried by travelling salesmen in the 1930s and 1940s to showcase Crawford’s biscuit range to shopkeepers and hotels.
-
The lid features a wonderfully stylised green-and-coral parrot perched on a golden branch, framed with an elegant gilt scroll border and soft cloudy shading typical of pre-war decorative tinwork. Inside, the tin is clean but naturally aged, reflecting its working history as a genuine sample container.
