Edwardian Oil Portrait “In the Manner of Philip Boileau’s Tomorrow
This charming early 20th-century oil on card depicts an elegant Edwardian lady in a wide brimmed straw hat with sweeping dark plume, high ruffled jabot, and tailored jacket – a fashionable look that closely echoes the style of Philip Boileau’s celebrated “Tomorrow” illustration. While not signed and therefore not attributable to Boileau himself, this hand-painted work is very much in the manner of the famous “Boileau Girl” portraits, with the same serene poise and Edwardian charm that made his images so popular.
The painting is presented in its original period gilt gesso frame, richly ornamented with scrolling foliate detail. To the reverse is the original framer’s label for R. Lupham & Sons, Picture Framers of Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough, a detail which adds provenance and historical context. The oil surface shows areas of age-related wear, consistent with a piece of this age, but retains wonderful warmth of colour and brushwork texture.
A decorative and atmospheric artwork, this piece offers both period authenticity and aesthetic appeal. It would make a fine addition to any collection of Edwardian art, vintage interiors, or as a striking standalone portrait.

Great item, was a glass jar with contents, well packaged, with a fragile label attached, arrived no problems. A near perfect example of a 50s/60s Hopkin and Williams chemical bottle. The postage was fair, the item was as described and a good value, especially with contents.
