Continental Bakeries was acquired by Biscuit International in March 2022. Biscuit International is a European manufacturer of private label biscuits. 
Continental Bakeries produced biscuits and bread substitutes in Benelux, DACH, Sweden, and Poland. One of the companies that Continental Bakeries acquired was Grabower Süsswaren GmbH, which produced biscuits, cakes, and other confectionery. Grabower was founded in 1835 in the town of Grabow, which is located in the former East Germany. The company was converted to public ownership in 1951 and produced mainly marshmallows. 
The baking profession has been a part of Germany for over 1,200 years. In the beginning, the city owned the stoves, and bakers would take turns baking bread. Bread was expensive, so it wasn't a staple until the Middle Ages.
