Antique Apothecary Bottle with latin name tinc: cinchon :

In business for a century (1830-1930), the York Glass Co. produced medicinal bottles in a variety of colours. The firm used a single complex logo embossed on the base of glass containers and impressed into ceramic bases. The firm was established in 1830.

A stunning display piece, the label is in incredible condition considering the year. Normally these are very faded or worn away completely.

Up until the late 19th century, apothecary containers were functional products made by skilled glassblowers along with other products such as windows and drinking vessels. These hand blown glass would normally have a “pontil scar” where the pontil was broken from the blown glass.

Please note item sold with a collection of 16 other bottles 20 cm tall 8 cm wide.
