A wonderfully characterful vintage wooden tool box with original-looking blue painted finish, metal corner strapping, riveted detail, hinged lid, front clasp and rope carry handle. It has exactly the sort of honest wear collectors and interior stylists love: scuffed paint, exposed timber edges, rusty metalwork, age marks, knocks and a naturally timeworn surface.

The box has a simple open wooden interior, making it ideal as decorative storage for tools, kindling, craft materials, magazines, display props or shop styling. The blue paint gives it real visual charm — a lovely rustic, industrial piece with farmhouse, workshop and coastal appeal.

This appears to be a practical working box, possibly a decorator’s, painter’s, tradesman’s or site/tool box, probably dating from the mid-20th century. The rope handle may be original or an old replacement, but it suits the piece beautifully and adds to the handmade utilitarian feel.

Condition:

Good vintage, used condition with plenty of age-related wear. There is paint loss, surface scratching, rust to the metal fittings, knocks to the lid edges and general marks from use. The inside is plain and aged with some staining and surface dirt. The rope handle shows age and fraying, so I would describe it as decorative rather than guaranteed for heavy carrying.
