This is a lovely thing – properly honest metalwork with real age to it

Antique Hand-Forged Brass Buckle / Harness Fitting lots of age related wear

.

11 cm wide

8 cm tall

.

A characterful antique brass buckle, hand-forged and wonderfully imperfect, with a chunky rectangular frame and a solid central tongue. The surface shows a warm, mellow patina with areas of oxidation and wear consistent with genuine age and long use.

.

The slightly irregular form and visible hammer marks suggest traditional blacksmith or saddler manufacture rather than later factory production. Likely dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, this style of buckle would originally have been used for harness work, strapping, belts, or industrial/leather fittings.

.

Now equally appealing as a decorative object, styling prop, or for reuse in heritage leatherwork and restoration projects.
