A smart and very collectable vintage Ferguson 3 waveband portable radio, finished in black with silver-tone detailing and a wonderfully clean, understated mid-century modern look. This example has a strong geometric speaker grille, carry handle, telescopic aerial and tuning display to the top, giving it that practical yet stylish late 1960s to 1970s appeal.

Marked Ferguson to the front and “3 Waveband – Made in Hong Kong”, this portable set covers LW, MW and FM, making it a charming piece of everyday design from the era when portable radios were both useful household objects and attractive lifestyle pieces. It would display beautifully in a study, music room, office, vintage-inspired interior or alongside a collection of retro electronics.

The Ferguson name has a long history in British consumer electronics. The brand began in the 1930s and became especially well known in the UK for radios, televisions and other domestic electrical goods under the ownership of Thorn. By the 1960s and 1970s Ferguson was a familiar household name, with a wide range of audio and television products sold across Britain.

This particular example appears to date from the 1970s, with its clean rectangular form, textured casing and practical multi-band layout all very much in keeping with that period. Manufacture in Hong Kong also reflects the wider shift in electronics production during the later 20th century. This is a lovely decorative and functional survivor from the golden age of portable radio design.

Appears in good vintage condition overall with light age-related surface wear, as expected. Comes with power lead attached and telescopic aerial present.
