Antique Blue Pearline Style Pressed Glass Bowl – Possible Davidson – Victorian
Antique Blue Pearline Style Pressed Glass Bowl – Possible Davidson – Victorian Opalescent Glass Dish
A beautifully decorative antique blue pressed glass bowl, glowing with that wonderful turquoise-blue colour so loved by collectors of Victorian opalescent glass.
The bowl has a rich moulded pattern, with diamond-cut style detailing to the outer body, a scalloped crimped rim, and a pretty flower/star motif to the centre. The pale opalescent edge catches the light beautifully, giving the piece a soft, almost icy blue finish.
This style is strongly reminiscent of late Victorian blue Pearline glass, particularly pieces associated with George Davidson & Co. of Gateshead, who became well known for their opalescent pressed glass wares from the late 19th century onwards. Without a visible maker’s mark or confirmed pattern number, we are listing it cautiously as possible Davidson / Pearline style, rather than making a definite attribution.
A lovely piece for display, or for use as a bonbon dish, fruit bowl, dressing-table bowl, or decorative cabinet piece. Its colour makes it especially appealing in a vintage glass collection, where it would sit beautifully alongside cranberry glass, uranium glass, carnival glass or other pressed glass pieces.
Condition:
Excellent vintage/antique condition with no chips, cracks or discolouration. Any variation in tone shown in the photographs is due to lighting and reflections. As with all antique pressed glass, there may be very light age-related surface wear consistent with handling and display.
Approximate measurements:
19cm diameter
5cm deep
We describe all antique and vintage items as accurately as possible, noting age, condition and any known history. Where maker or date cannot be confirmed, attribution is made carefully and honestly based on style, construction and available research.
