Antique Royal Delft Erven Lucas Bols Blue & White Liqueur Decanter with Stopper
Antique Royal Delft Erven Lucas Bols Blue & White Liqueur Decanter with Stopper – Anno 1575
A beautiful antique Dutch Delft blue decanter made for Erven Lucas Bols, the famous Amsterdam distillers whose history dates back to 1575.
Full of old-world charm, this hand-painted blue and white ceramic bottle has a wonderfully decorative shape, with a rounded bulbous body, elegant handle, shaped pouring lip and original ceramic stopper with cork.
The decoration is classic Delft in style, with cobalt blue floral motifs, scrollwork and a charming hand-painted Dutch canal or harbour scene to the front. Around the shoulder is the inscription “ANNO 1575”, referring to the founding date of Lucas Bols rather than the date of the bottle itself.
The underside carries a blue painted Delft-style mark, consistent with pieces produced by De Porceleyne Fles / Royal Delft, along with artist and date marks. The exact year code is difficult to confirm with complete certainty, but this appears to be an early 20th-century example, possibly dating to the early 1900s.
This is a lovely decorative piece with real collector appeal — perfect for a Delft collection, bar display, drinks cabinet, vintage kitchen, country house interior or as a characterful shelf piece. The stopper is present, which is always a bonus with these older decanters.
Size: Approx. 23cm tall x 14cm diameter at widest points.
Condition: Good antique condition with age-related crazing, light surface wear, some discolouration and staining in places, particularly around the base and neck area. There is wear to the foot rim and cork stopper commensurate with age. No obvious major damage visible from the photographs, but please study all images as they form part of the description.
A wonderfully atmospheric antique Delft blue Bols decanter — decorative, collectible and rich with Dutch distilling history.
