A genuine Victorian brewery bottle produced by William Bulley & Sons, Brewers of Reading. Made from thick, dark olive-green glass, this handsome bottle dates from around 1890 to 1905 and features embossed lettering reading:
“WILLIAM BULLEY & SONS – BREWERS – READING.”

This classic blob-top bottle would have been sealed with a cork and wired down to hold beer or aerated mineral water during the late 19th century. The rich green glass not only protected its contents from light but also gives the piece a beautiful, deep tone under natural light. Its rounded shoulders, slightly uneven finish, and subtle bubbles in the glass are all signs of its early moulded manufacture.

History:
The Bulley family were well-known brewers in Reading, Berkshire, with operations dating back to the mid-19th century. Their embossed glass bottles were widely used across southern England and are now prized examples of Victorian brewery history. Each was intended for reuse and often returned to the brewery — hence the authentic surface wear seen on this piece.

In good antique condition with age-related scuffs and marks typical of a bottle of this age. No cracks or major chips. The embossing remains clearly legible and adds great character.
