The history of Andes mints is as follows:
1921: Andrew Kanelos opened a candy store in Chicago, Illinois and named it "Andy's Candies".
1950: Andes mints were first launched.
1980: The Swiss candy company Interfood purchased Andes.
1987: Andes became part of the Brach's division when Jacobs Suchard purchased Brach's.
1990: When Jacobs Suchard was sold to Kraft General Foods, Brach's was kept separate by owner Klaus J. Jacobs.
2000: Tootsie Roll Industries purchased Andes from Brach's.
