Vintage Marigold Carnival Glass Footed Dish – Beaded Rim & Diamond Panel Detail
A beautiful little flash of old-world glow, this vintage marigold carnival glass dish has that wonderful golden-amber iridescence which catches the light from every angle. Small but full of character, it has a softly fluted sunburst-style interior, a pretty beaded scalloped rim, diamond-panel detail to the exterior and three little moulded feet which lift it beautifully from the table.
This is the sort of piece that instantly adds warmth to a dresser, sideboard or dressing table. It would be perfect as a small bonbon dish, trinket bowl, wrapped chocolate dish, jewellery holder, or simply as a decorative piece of vintage glass to enjoy for its colour and texture.
Carnival glass became especially popular in the early 20th century, loved for its affordable glamour and jewel-like finish. This example has the classic marigold tone associated with the style — amber at the base, golden in the light, and softly smoky where the iridescence gathers around the rim and moulded decoration.
The pattern has a lovely pressed-glass quality, with radiating ribs inside the bowl and a diamond-panelled lower section. It is possibly British pressed carnival glass, in the manner of makers such as Sowerby, though there is no visible maker’s mark so we would not wish to over-attribute it.
