Geo. Bassett & Co. Ltd. was founded in Sheffield in 1842 by George Bassett as a retail confectionery business, later moving into manufacturing. The company became famous for creating Liquorice Allsorts in 1899 after an accidental mix-up, and its iconic mascot, Bertie Bassett, was introduced in 1929. The brand is now part of Mondelēz International, which merged it with Maynards to form Maynards Bassetts in 2016.

1842: George Bassett establishes a retail confectionery business in Sheffield.

1859: Bassett sells his retail business and focuses on manufacturing sugar confectionery.

1876: The firm's Portland Street factory is described as the largest confectionery works in the world.

All items listed on Objet D'Art Stuff are antique, vintage, or pre-owned, meaning they have been previously used and loved. As such, each piece will show signs of age-related wear, which may include small marks, minor surface scratches, or other signs of use consistent with its history. We carefully describe and photograph all notable features and imperfections, but please understand that gentle wear is part of the character and authenticity of vintage and antique items.

Shipping Policy

All orders are processed within 3 to 5 business days (excluding weekends and UK bank holidays). Please allow for any potential delays due to a high volume of orders or postal service problems that are outside of our control.

Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at the checkout. Charges are based upon the size and weight of the item you have purchased and are in line with Royal Mail and/or Yodel shipping rates for the UK. Internationally shipping costs include a handling charge and any excise duties for the country of destination.

We do not offer in-store pick up or local delivery.

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available.
