Vintage Iridescent Lavender Art Glass Bowl HandBlown Footed Centrepiece

Vintage Iridescent Lavender Art Glass Bowl HandBlown Footed Centrepiece

SKU : ODS1415

Vintage Iridescent Lavender Art Glass Bowl – Hand-Blown Footed Centrepiece (c.1920s–1960s)

-

Add a touch of timeless elegance to your home with this stunning vintage iridescent glass bowl. Hand-blown in a shallow, wide form with a small foot, the bowl shimmers in a delicate lavender hue with a soft, pearly iridescence that catches the light beautifully.

-

The craftsmanship is evident in the subtle striations within the glass and the polished pontil scar at the base, marking it as a genuine hand-blown piece rather than mass-produced. Its understated yet sophisticated design makes it a versatile decorative accent – perfect as a table centrepiece, fruit bowl, or statement display piece.

-

The bowl shows stylistic influences associated with both Bohemian art glass makers such as Loetz and Kralik (known for their iridised finishes in the early 20th century) and mid-century Scandinavian glass (celebrated for organic, minimalist forms).

-

Our research shows Possible Origin & Style as follows:

1. Art Nouveau/Art Deco influence (early 20th century)

The iridescence and shape are reminiscent of Loetz, Kralik, or other Bohemian glassmakers (Austrian/Czech).

Companies like Loetz used iridised finishes (similar to Tiffany favrile glass) from the 1890s through 1920s.

-

2. Mid-century Scandinavian glass (1950s–1970s)

The simple, organic shape also recalls work by Holmegaard (Denmark) or Riihimäki (Finland).

Scandinavian pieces tended to use understated forms with delicate colouring.

-

3. Studio Glass Movement (1960s–1980s)

The pontil scar and iridescence also fit with studio glass artists experimenting in small workshops, often without marks.

---

Clues from the Bowl

The lavender hue and iridescence lean more toward early-mid 20th century art glass rather than later plain Scandinavian bowls.

The wear on the base suggests genuine age, not a modern reproduction.

The foot is small and neatly tooled – that’s more in line with Bohemian or studio work, rather than mass production.

While unmarked, it sits comfortably in the period 1920s–1960s, and its quality ensures it remains highly collectible today.

    vintage objects on table

Great item, was a glass jar with contents, well packaged, with a fragile label attached, arrived no problems. A near perfect example of a 50s/60s Hopkin and Williams chemical bottle. The postage was fair, the item was as described and a good value, especially with contents.

    vintage clock face

I am absolutely delighted with this item. It arrived by post quicker than I expected. It was very well packaged up and I will add it to my ever growing collection..I spent quite a while deciding whether to add this [item] to it. it is exactly as you described.
