Vintage Hand-Painted Ceramic Money Box – Zhostovo-Style Floral Folk Art (c.1970s–1990s)
-
This charming vintage ceramic money box is beautifully hand-painted in a traditional Eastern European folk art style reminiscent of Russian Zhostovo floral designs. The rounded form is decorated with bold, freehand brushstrokes of cream, red, and green flowers set against a glossy black ground, finished with a clear varnish for a lacquer-like effect.
-
Unlike many older examples, this Objet d'Art piece retains its original rubber stopper in the recessed base, making it both decorative and practical. The folk-style floral motifs are individually hand-painted, giving the piece a unique character and warmth.
-
Condition: Overall good vintage condition with vibrant colours. There is an area of paint loss on the top where adhesive tape was once applied and later removed (please see photos). This wear is reflected in the price and adds to its story as a well-loved vintage piece. Some light surface scuffs and signs of age are also present, consistent with use.
