A striking vintage ruby cranberry art glass dish with controlled bubble decoration, a beautifully weighty rounded form and rich jewel-like colour. Probably mid-century, this piece has the decorative look often associated with Whitefriars or Murano-style bullicante glass, though it is unsigned and unlabelled, so it is offered as vintage art glass rather than attributed to a specific maker.

Rich, weighty and full of depth, this beautiful vintage ruby cranberry glass dish has all the drama and decorative appeal of mid-century art glass. The colour is a deep raspberry-red, glowing brightly where the light catches it and deepening to darker wine tones around the thick rounded edge.

The piece is formed as a low, heavy dish, with a rounded rim and shallow central well. Suspended within the glass are rows of small controlled bubbles, giving it that wonderful bullicante-style effect often associated with mid-century Whitefriars or Murano glass. The bubbles create movement and sparkle through the ruby glass, making this a particularly attractive display piece from every angle.

It would make a fabulous decorative catch-all on a console table, a dressing-table dish for jewellery, a desk piece, or a sculptural glass accent for a mid-century, retro or maximalist interior. Although originally this type of form was often used as an ashtray, today it works beautifully as a decorative bowl or statement glass object.
