Antique Doulton Lambeth Stoneware Bottle with Original Stopper (c. 1880–1910)

-

A fine example of late Victorian craftsmanship, this dark brown stoneware bottle was made by Doulton & Co., Lambeth, London, and bears their impressed oval mark with a large central “D.”

-

Finished in a rich Albany slip glaze, the bottle has a satisfying weight and smooth, tactile surface. It retains its original ceramic stopper, a rare survival that hints at its practical origins — most likely as a household ink or chemical bottle, used in offices, schools, or laboratories of the period.

-

Typical of Doulton Lambeth’s renowned utility ware, the bottle combines function and durability with understated style. It would make a charming addition to any period writing desk, apothecary display, or collection of antique ceramics.

-

In very good antique condition with age-related wear, including minor surface marks and kiln imperfections typical of hand-finished 19th-century stoneware.

-

Measurements: approx. 12cm without stopper. 15cm with stopper.

Maker: Doulton & Co., Lambeth, London

Date: c. 1880–1910

Material: Stoneware, salt-glazed finish

Colour: Dark brown (Albany glaze)

Condition: Age-related wear, stopper intact - which is rare!

-

A handsome piece of British ceramic history from one of London’s most respected potteries.
