Mid-20th-century chrome-plated metal bud vase or decorative modernist desk piece, with a very sculptural, almost architectural feel. The tall square neck flares out into a four-petalled opening at the rim, while the waisted body widens into a pyramidal base. Two circular side loops frame the form beautifully, giving it a distinctive, almost futuristic silhouette.

Pieces like this were made from the 1930s–1960s, often in Germany or the UK, influenced by Art Deco and later Bauhaus/Modernist styling — clean lines, geometry and function-as-form. Chrome-plating was very popular at that time for its sleek mirror finish and durability.
