Chupa Chups OK! Vintage Style Money Box Tin | Polish Lollipop Sweet Tin | Salvador Dalí Logo Advertising Collectible

A wonderfully cheerful Chupa Chups “OK!” novelty money box tin, originally produced as a reusable sweet tin for the Polish market and designed to hold 120g / 10 Chupa Chups lollipops. Now empty, this charming cylindrical tin has found its second life as a highly decorative piece of confectionery advertising, perfect for collectors of sweet tins, pop culture packaging, nostalgic childhood memorabilia, or colourful kitchen and shelf display.

The design is full of character. The front features the iconic Chupa Chups flower-shaped logo, a bold red “OK!” slogan, colourful lollipop illustrations, and a smiling sailor giving a thumbs-up. The background has a wonderfully playful fairground feel, with soft turquoise blue stripes, candy-shop colouring, and a deliberately retro graphic style. The black metal top has a coin slot, showing that the tin was intended to be kept and reused as a money box once the sweets had been enjoyed.

This piece is especially interesting from a social history point of view. It reflects the way confectionery brands moved beyond simple packaging into giftable, reusable and collectible containers. Rather than being thrown away, tins like this were made to stay in the home — on a child’s shelf, in a kitchen, bedroom or playroom — turning a sweet purchase into a lasting branded object. It is a lovely example of modern consumer packaging designed with nostalgia, fun and re-use in mind.

Chupa Chups itself has a fascinating history. The brand was founded in Spain in 1958 by Enric Bernat, who had the clever idea of putting sweets on a stick so children could enjoy them more easily and with less mess. The name comes from the Spanish verb “chupar”, meaning “to suck”. Over time, Chupa Chups became one of the world’s most recognisable lollipop brands.

Perhaps the most famous part of the Chupa Chups story is its logo. In 1969, the flower-shaped logo was redesigned by Salvador Dalí, the celebrated Spanish surrealist artist. Dalí reportedly suggested placing the logo on the top of the lollipop wrapper rather than the side, so it would remain clearly visible and instantly recognisable. That simple but brilliant branding idea helped make the Chupa Chups logo one of the most distinctive confectionery logos in the world. This tin carries that unmistakable Dalí-associated flower logo, making it a lovely conversation piece for anyone interested in design history, advertising, pop culture or collectible packaging.

The reverse label is in Polish and identifies the contents as “lizaki wielosmakowe”, meaning multi-flavour lollipops, with “10 sztuk” meaning 10 pieces. It also names Perfetti Van Melle Polska as the distributor, linking the tin to Chupa Chups’ later international ownership and distribution. This places the tin in the early 21st century rather than antique period, but it has a strong vintage-style aesthetic and a collectible advertising appeal.

A brilliant little display piece for a vintage kitchen, sweet shop display, retro shelf, children’s room, collector’s cabinet or advertising memorabilia collection.

Condition

This is an empty pre-owned tin and is sold as a collectible display item only.

It shows visible signs of age, use and storage, including rubbing to the printed surface, darkening and wear to the top and base rims, small marks, scuffs, surface scratches, areas of dulling, and some oxidisation/discolouration to the metal top and base. There is also general wear to the paper-style printed design, which gives the piece an appealing timeworn character.

The coin slot top is present, and the tin displays well despite its age-related wear.

Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
