Objet d’Art Stuff sells carefully chosen antique, vintage, retro, salvaged, reclaimed and collectible pieces. Our stock changes regularly and may include tinware, ceramics, glassware, silver plate, boxes, trunks, artwork, lighting, furniture, toys, games, social history pieces and wonderfully quirky curios. We choose items for character, story and charm rather than buying in bulk, so many pieces are one-off finds.

Wherever possible, we research each item before listing it, looking at maker’s marks, style, materials, construction, age, design and historical context. Some pieces can be dated or attributed with confidence; others are described more cautiously when the evidence is less certain. We always aim to describe items honestly and to the best of our knowledge.

Yes. Unless a listing clearly states otherwise, the item photographed is the exact item you will receive. Antique and vintage pieces are not mass-produced new stock, so each one has its own marks, wear, repairs, patina or quirks. Please look carefully through all photographs before buying, as they form part of the description.

Yes. We describe visible age-related wear, damage, restoration, missing parts or faults wherever we are aware of them. Antique and vintage items are expected to show signs of previous life, and for many pieces that gentle wear is part of their charm. We try to be clear about the difference between normal age-related character and more significant condition issues.

We do not digitally alter items to hide damage or improve their condition. Colours may vary slightly depending on lighting, screen settings, background and the device you are using, but we aim to photograph items clearly and honestly. If you would like an additional photograph of a particular detail, please contact us before buying.

Absolutely. We are always happy to answer questions before purchase. If you need more details about size, condition, weight, colour, maker’s marks, materials, history or postage, please get in touch before placing your order. We would much rather help you feel confident than have you guessing.

This depends on the item. Some pieces are lightly cleaned, while others are left with their original patina, surface wear or signs of use because that is part of their history. We avoid over-restoring pieces where doing so would remove age, charm or evidence of previous life. Any significant restoration we know about will be mentioned in the listing.

We pack carefully, using the safest practical method for the item. Fragile pieces may require extra padding, double boxing or specialist packaging. Because many of our items are old, delicate or oddly shaped, packing is done with care rather than speed.

Yes. We use recycled and reused packaging wherever possible as part of our commitment to reducing waste. This means your parcel may arrive in reused outer packaging, but the item inside will still be packed with care.

Most items are sold for delivery. Viewing or collection may be possible by appointment only, depending on the item and location. Please contact us before ordering if collection is important to you.

For online purchases, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of receiving your goods. Please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to return an item. The item must be returned in the condition in which it was received.

If you are returning an item because you have changed your mind, return postage is normally your responsibility. If the item is faulty or not as described, we will deal with the matter in line with your consumer rights and our returns policy.

Please contact us straight away if your item arrives damaged. Keep the item, all packaging and clear photographs of the damage so we can investigate with the courier where necessary. We will work with you to resolve the issue as fairly and quickly as possible.

Please do not attempt to repair, clean, dismantle or alter an item if you think there is a problem. Contact us first. Items that have been altered, repaired or had labels, marks or provenance removed may not be eligible for return unless required by law.

Because most of our stock is antique, vintage or one-off, we usually cannot offer like-for-like replacements. If there is a genuine problem with an order, we will discuss the appropriate next step with you.

Antique and vintage items have lived previous lives. Surface marks, rubbing, tarnish, crazing, small knocks, old repairs, fading or signs of use can all be part of their character. We believe these details often make older pieces more interesting, but we will always try to point out anything significant.

“As found” means the item is being sold in the condition in which we acquired it, without restoration or significant cleaning. It may have wear, faults, missing parts or signs of age. Please read the full description and study the photographs before buying.

Patina is the natural surface ageing that develops over time. It may include mellowed colour, oxidisation, tarnish, softened edges, surface wear or texture from age and handling. Many collectors value patina because it shows age and authenticity.

Vintage electrical items should always be checked by a qualified person before regular use unless the listing clearly states that the item has been tested. Where an item is sold as working, untested, decorative or requiring PAT testing, this will be stated in the description. Buyers should follow current safety guidance before use.
