Vintage Boxed C.K / CeKa Fibre Tape Measure – 100ft / 30m – No. 3591
Vintage Boxed C.K / CeKa Fibre Tape Measure – 100ft / 30m – No. 3591
A wonderfully characterful vintage boxed tape measure by C.K / CeKa, model No. 3591, with a 100ft / 30m fibre-glass reinforced PVC tape and both inch and metric readings.
This is the sort of practical trade object that instantly evokes the working world of builders, surveyors, engineers, workshops and draughtsmen — made not as a decorative piece, but as a reliable tool for real measuring jobs.
The warm tan circular case, chrome winding mechanism and original maroon card box give it a strong mid-century utilitarian charm.
The original box label describes it as a “Fibre Tape Measure” with inch + metric reading, while the inner printed label promotes the then-modern advantages of fibre-glass reinforced PVC over woven tapes, including constant accuracy, tear resistance, low expansion or contraction in extreme weather conditions, and non-conductivity when dry.
These details place it beautifully in the period when new synthetic materials were being introduced into everyday trade tools.
The tape is branded C.K / CeKa, associated with Carl Kammerling / C.K Tools, a respected tool name with roots in German toolmaking and a long history of supplying professional-quality hand tools.
The tape measure pulls out and winds back in very smoothly, with the chrome winding mechanism working well. It would make a lovely addition to a vintage tool collection, workshop display, industrial-style interior, theatre/prop department, or simply for someone who enjoys practical objects with history and honest age.
