Vintage Empoli Italian vase, marked made in Italy on base with bubble effects. This wonderfully decorative glass vase looks stunning. It is shown here displayed with other items (see pictures price is for Empoli vase all other items are for sale separately).

Research suggests that this one seems to be a bit rarer. The bubble effects are more subtle. It may have had a stopper at some point but not now.  But, the missing stopper does not detract from the beauty of the item.

Early history

Domenico Lorenzo Levantini began producing majolica and glass in the second half of the 18th century

Francesco Del Vivo and Michele Ristori founded a glassworks in 1830 that operated until 1984

The classic green flasks with straw-covered bases became increasingly important in the mid-19th century

Post-war period

A post-war crisis led to the creation of cooperative glassworks to make artistic glass

The 1950s through the early 1970s saw a peak in the production of decorative items, such as decanters, vases, and vessels

Modern era

The Empoli area experienced major industrial growth in the 1960s

The Glass Museum in Empoli documents the city's glassmaking history
