Antique Victorian Biscuit / Tea Tin with Water Lily Design (c. 1890–1910)

This charming antique lithographed tin is a wonderful survivor from the late Victorian to Edwardian period, dating to around 1890–1910. Made in the style of Huntley & Palmers or Hudson Scott, this trunk-shaped tin would originally have been used for biscuits, tea, or confectionery, and was designed to be cherished and repurposed as a keepsake box.

Crafted from tinplate with a hinged lid and sturdy wire carry handle, the box is decorated with exquisite water lily motifs framed by ornate gilt Rococo scrollwork. The deep forest-green background highlights the delicate white flowers, symbols of purity and tranquillity much loved in Victorian design. Its unusual casket-like form with sloping sides makes it especially collectible.

Condition

The tin is in good vintage condition, with age-related wear and interior oxidation consistent with its age. The exterior lithography remains bright and attractive, making it a fine decorative piece as well as a collectible.

Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at the checkout. We do not offer in-store pick up or local delivery.
