Antique Late Victorian Oak Corner Umbrella & Stick Stand with Metal Drip Tray

A wonderfully practical antique corner umbrella and walking-stick stand, believed to date from the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, circa 1890–1910.

Made from richly toned oak, the stand has a clever triangular shape designed to sit neatly in the corner of an entrance hall. Three ring-turned upright supports are topped with rounded wooden finials, while the gently bowed front rail adds an attractive architectural quality.

At the base is a removable, green-painted metal drip tray with folding handles, designed to catch rainwater from wet umbrellas. This useful original feature gives the stand plenty of period character and makes it just as practical today as it would have been more than a century ago.

The wood displays a warm, naturally aged finish with attractive grain and patina. There are marks, scratches, darker water stains and general surface wear consistent with many years of use. The metal tray has paint loss, surface corrosion and weathered patination, all clearly shown in the photographs. It has been left in its authentic, unrestored condition.

A characterful and increasingly uncommon piece of antique hall furniture, ideal for holding umbrellas, walking sticks or canes without taking up too much floor space.
