Stuff about us The Objet D'Art Stuff Story Objet D'Art Stuff (ODS) was created in 2023 by us - Bill & Jo, a couple based in Northamptonshire, UK. Between us we have (gulp) 78 years experience in the retail sales and service industry. We have worked for a number of retailers and service providers, and in the latter years of our respective careers, ran our own companies. Objet D'Art (That's Stuff to you and me!) antique and vintage shop online was borne out of a genuine interest and curiosity for beautiful things. It started out as a hobby and we enjoyed it so much it naturally developed into an online marketplace. We are constantly updating our knowledge and expertise in antiques and collectables. We want to share with others that knowledge, expertise, love and interest for stuff. The day we stop being passionate about it, is the day we stop doing it! The stuff we like and therefore sell includes antiques, vintage, collectibles, retro and curios. We particularly like things that are quirky and unique. We visit antique fairs, emporiums, warehouses, clearance sales, reclamation yards and exhibitions across the UK throughout the year. Between us we bring different interests, expertise and skills to the table. Nicknamed the Time Traveller, Bill has a particular interest in silver (especially Victorian), mirrors and militaria. Jo AKA the Happy Antiquer, likes the decorative side of things - hand crafted items, paintings, chinoiserie and toleware. Our different styles and approaches are evident when you look closely at the products in store. We have different ways of photographing the items, and our own unique ways of describing the products. We think this is a good thing because it emphasises how the uniqueness of an item captures different audiences and, as we say, history and beauty outweighs function! We buy on instinct because we think that if we like an object, and see something in it, others will too. Most importantly we take pride in what we do and do it with passion. It's as simple as that! We hope you will enjoy buying stuff at our antique and vintage shop online as much as we enjoy sourcing it! We like to think of ourselves as 'time travellers'. We take the time to enjoy each item we buy too, so we often keep some of the beautiful treasures in our home, until they are bought by you! We love what we do and call ourselves 'Happy Antiquers'! All tastes, eras, trends, styles & budgets to suit every pocket At Objet D'Art, (that's STUFF to you and me!) we pride ourselves in offering a vast collection of unique antique, vintage, retro, curios and collectable stuff that will add character and enjoyment to any home, office, den or any other space you can think of! Maybe you have a collection you wish to add to or just want to purchase something, well......just because you want it and you want to enjoy something lovely for a while. - Sustainability | Objet D'Art Stuff Antique Vintage
We're deeply committed to protecting the environment by using recycled and reused packaging materials for all items purchased from our website. SUSTAINABILITY At Objet d'Art Stuff, we're deeply committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability. One of the key ways we do this is by using recycled and reused packaging materials for all items purchased from our website. This conscious choice helps reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimize our environmental footprint. Why We Choose Recycled and Reused Packaging The fashion and home decor industries, like many others, generate significant waste. Traditional packaging often contributes to this problem by using new materials that require energy and resources to produce. By opting for recycled and reused packaging, we are actively working to counter this issue. Our packaging approach supports the circular economy, where materials are continually reused and repurposed, reducing the need for new resources and minimizing waste. What You Can Expect When you receive a package from Objet d'Art Stuff, you might notice that the box, padding, or wrapping materials aren't branded with our logo or look brand new. This is because we prioritize using materials that have been repurposed. While the packaging may vary in appearance, rest assured that it is carefully selected to protect your purchases during transit. Our goal is to ensure that your items arrive safely while minimizing the environmental impact of our packaging practices. Benefits of Recycled and Reused Packaging Environmental Conservation: By reusing materials, we reduce the demand for new resources, helping to preserve natural habitats and reduce carbon emissions associated with manufacturing. Waste Reduction: Our approach helps divert packaging waste from landfills, giving materials a second life rather than discarding them after a single use. Support for Sustainability: Every package we send is a testament to our commitment to sustainable practices. By choosing Objet d'Art Stuff, you're supporting a business that prioritizes the planet's health and future. Our Commitment to You and the Planet We understand that branded packaging can enhance the unboxing experience. However, we believe that the positive impact on the environment far outweighs this. By opting for unbranded, recycled, and reused packaging, we're making a stand for sustainability—and we invite you to join us in this effort. Our preferred Courier and ecommerce services We have chosen our preferred courier companies and e commerce partnerships based upon their commitment to sustainable practices too. Objet D'Art (That's Stuff to you and Me!) have four main online channels to find our store items. You can shop via our Ebay Store, Etsy Store, Google Merchant store or via our dedicated website. If you shop directly from the website you get the benefit of having the option to use a discount coupon and receive from 10% off your purchase. The choice is entirely yours! What does Objet d’Art Stuff sell? Objet d’Art Stuff sells carefully chosen antique, vintage, retro, salvaged, reclaimed and collectible pieces. Our stock changes regularly and may include tinware, ceramics, glassware, silver plate, boxes, trunks, artwork, lighting, furniture, toys, games, social history pieces and wonderfully quirky curios. We choose items for character, story and charm rather than buying in bulk, so many pieces are one-off finds. Will I receive the exact item shown in the photographs? Yes. Unless a listing clearly states otherwise, the item photographed is the exact item you will receive. Antique and vintage pieces are not mass-produced new stock, so each one has its own marks, wear, repairs, patina or quirks. Please look carefully through all photographs before buying, as they form part of the description. Are condition issues shown and described? Yes. We describe visible age-related wear, damage, restoration, missing parts or faults wherever we are aware of them. Antique and vintage items are expected to show signs of previous life, and for many pieces that gentle wear is part of their charm. We try to be clear about the difference between normal age-related character and more significant condition issues. Are your photographs edited? We do not digitally alter items to hide damage or improve their condition. Colours may vary slightly depending on lighting, screen settings, background and the device you are using, but we aim to photograph items clearly and honestly. If you would like an additional photograph of a particular detail, please contact us before buying. Can I ask a question before I buy? Absolutely. We are always happy to answer questions before purchase. If you need more details about size, condition, weight, colour, maker’s marks, materials, history or postage, please get in touch before placing your order. We would much rather help you feel confident than have you guessing. Do you clean or restore items before selling them? This depends on the item. Some pieces are lightly cleaned, while others are left with their original patina, surface wear or signs of use because that is part of their history. We avoid over-restoring pieces where doing so would remove age, charm or evidence of previous life. Any significant restoration we know about will be mentioned in the listing. Do you deal with Traders? Yes. We are happy to deal with traders. It's probably best to get in touch with us directly if you are a trader so we can discuss your requirements and find out how we can 'trade' with you in a way that works for us both. customerservices@objetdart-stuff.co.uk Is my payment secure? Yes. We take security very seriously and all payment methods are secured. We hold an SSL/TLS certificate and a PCI SSC - The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) is a global forum that brings together payments industry stakeholders to develop and drive adoption of data security standards and resources for safe payments worldwide. How do I find out when my stuff will arrive? Please allow 3-5 working days for your order to arrive. If it has been longer than this, email us at customerservices@objetdart-stuff.co.uk with your order details and we will see if we can track its progress. We'll always provide a tracking number when you make your purchase, so you can follow your antique item's journey. Our preferred courier is Royal Mail Tracked 48. How do I know Objet D'Art Stuff is a legitimate business? Yes — you’re buying from a genuine UK business. We take authenticity, trust and clear information seriously, and we follow the consumer protection and trading standards rules that apply to us. If you’d like more detail about an item, our policies or your order, just get in touch. We’re happy to help! Where can I buy from Objet d’Art Stuff? You can buy directly through our website and may also find selected items through our other selling channels. Buying directly from the website is often the best way to access website-only offers, discount codes and the widest view of our available stock. You will also avoid marketplace seller fees if you buy directly. Do you offer discounts? From time to time we offer website discount codes, newsletter offers or seasonal promotions. Any active offer will be shown clearly on the website. Please check the terms of the offer before ordering, as some codes may have expiry dates, usage limits or exclusions. Do you sell gift cards? Yes. Gift cards are available through the website and are a lovely option for antique lovers, collectors and people who enjoy choosing their own treasure. Please check the gift card page for current terms and conditions. How quickly will my order be dispatched? Orders are usually processed within 3 to 5 business days, excluding weekends and UK bank holidays. You will receive confirmation when your order is received and another notification when it has been dispatched. How will my item be sent? Most UK parcels are sent using a tracked delivery service. Larger, heavier or more fragile items may require a different courier depending on size, weight, value and destination. We choose the delivery method we believe is safest and most suitable for the item. Will I receive tracking information? Yes, where tracking is available, you will receive tracking details once your order has been dispatched. Please allow a little time for the tracking information to update after the parcel has entered the courier system. Do you ship internationally? Yes, we can ship many items internationally. International delivery costs vary depending on the item’s size, weight, fragility and destination. For large, heavy, delicate or oversized items, please contact us before purchase so we can confirm whether shipping is possible and provide a suitable delivery estimate. How are fragile antiques and vintage items packed? We pack carefully, using the safest practical method for the item. Fragile pieces may require extra padding, double boxing or specialist packaging. Because many of our items are old, delicate or oddly shaped, packing is done with care rather than speed. Do you use recycled packaging? Yes. We use recycled and reused packaging wherever possible as part of our commitment to reducing waste. This means your parcel may arrive in reused outer packaging, but the item inside will still be packed with care. Can I collect my item? Most items are sold for delivery. Viewing or collection may be possible by appointment only, depending on the item and location. Please contact us before ordering if collection is important to you. Who pays for return postage? If you are returning an item because you have changed your mind, return postage is normally your responsibility. If the item is faulty or not as described, we will deal with the matter in line with your consumer rights and our returns policy. What if my item arrives damaged? Please contact us straight away if your item arrives damaged. Keep the item, all packaging and clear photographs of the damage so we can investigate with the courier where necessary. We will work with you to resolve the issue as fairly and quickly as possible. Can I return an item if I have altered or repaired it? Please do not attempt to repair, clean, dismantle or alter an item if you think there is a problem. Contact us first. Items that have been altered, repaired or had labels, marks or provenance removed may not be eligible for return unless required by law. Do you offer repairs or replacements? Because most of our stock is antique, vintage or one-off, we usually cannot offer like-for-like replacements. If there is a genuine problem with an order, we will discuss the appropriate next step with you. Why do antique and vintage items show wear? Antique and vintage items have lived previous lives. Surface marks, rubbing, tarnish, crazing, small knocks, old repairs, fading or signs of use can all be part of their character. We believe these details often make older pieces more interesting, but we will always try to point out anything significant. What does “as found” mean? “As found” means the item is being sold in the condition in which we acquired it, without restoration or significant cleaning. It may have wear, faults, missing parts or signs of age. Please read the full description and study the photographs before buying. What does “patina” mean? Patina is the natural surface ageing that develops over time. It may include mellowed colour, oxidisation, tarnish, softened edges, surface wear or texture from age and handling. Many collectors value patina because it shows age and authenticity. Are old electrical items safe to use? Vintage electrical items should always be checked by a qualified person before regular use unless the listing clearly states that the item has been tested. Where an item is sold as working, untested, decorative or requiring PAT testing, this will be stated in the description. Buyers should follow current safety guidance before use. Do you sell items for decorative use only? Yes, some pieces are best suited for display, styling, collecting or decorative use rather than practical everyday use. This is especially true of old lighting, tins, bottles, medical items, packaging, tools, toys and salvaged pieces. The listing will usually explain the intended or safest use. Where do you find your items? We source from a variety of places, including private sellers, fairs, markets, house clearances, auctions and other trusted routes. We choose pieces that interest us because of their design, usefulness, story, age, maker, social history or decorative appeal. Why buy antique or vintage instead of new? Buying antique and vintage is a more sustainable way to shop. It gives existing objects a new life, reduces demand for newly manufactured goods and helps preserve pieces of social, domestic and design history. It also means your home can contain things with individuality rather than mass-produced sameness. What is social history? Social history pieces are objects that tell us something about everyday life, work, travel, food, medicine, education, advertising, childhood, domestic routines or changing tastes. These items may not always be grand or expensive, but they often carry wonderful stories about how people lived. Do you buy from the public? We may consider buying individual items, small collections or interesting pieces that fit with the Objet d’Art Stuff style. If you have something you think may suit us, please get in touch with clear photographs, measurements, condition details and any known history. I still have a question. How do I contact you? Need More Help? Please contact us before buying if you need more information. We are happy to help with questions about condition, measurements, delivery, history, materials or suitability. A friendly question is always welcome — especially when it helps an old piece find the right new home. customerservices@objetdart-stuff.co.uk Home Shop by category About Objet D'Art Stuff Useful Stuff Legal Stuff FAQs Feedback form LOCATION customerservices@objetdart-stuff.co.uk Tel. +44(0) 7894 312502 Warehouse: Not open to the public Cransley Northamptonshire, NN14 Small range of items in store at Up the Junction Antiques , Glebe Farm Shop & Tea Room , Junction 7, A14 Kettering, NN16 8XF SOCIAL STUFF TikTok Instagram Linktree Member Log in STAY CONNECTED Get the latest ODS in-house digital quarterly magazine & get discount codes before advertised.
