This handsome antique silver-plated covered butter or serving dish  is unusual the handle is removable making a 2 dish server features a beautifully balanced rectangular form with a beaded gallery edge and a decorative loop handle to the lid, giving it that unmistakable late Victorian / Edwardian dining-table presence.
The dish separates into three parts – base tray, handle, and domed cover – making it both practical and decorative. Originally intended for butter, it also works beautifully today as a small entrée dish, cheese dish, or refined serving piece.
The softly domed lid and restrained ornamentation reflect the transitional period between late Victorian formality and Edwardian elegance.

The underside bears a pattern or stock number “8018” and a worn maker’s stamp which is no longer fully legible.
Based on construction, finish, and style, this piece is almost certainly English silver plate, likely produced by a Sheffield or Birmingham manufacturer, possibly one of the many high-quality silver-plate firms operating around 1890–1910.
While the exact maker cannot be confidently attributed, the quality is consistent with respected firms such as Elkington-type or Walker & Hall-type production, rather than later mid-century plate.
