Large Vintage French-Style Metal and Glass Lantern (c. 1980s–1990s)

Large Vintage French-Style Metal and Glass Lantern (c. 1980s–1990s)

-

Bring a touch of timeless elegance to your home with this beautifully detailed vintage French-style lantern, crafted from metal and glass and finished in a charming distressed white and black patina. Standing approximately 45 cm tall × 30 cm wide × 20 cm deep, this impressive piece draws its inspiration from the ornate carriage lanterns of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.

-

The lantern features intricate pierced fretwork panels, bevelled glass sides, and a decorative balustrade gallery top with a solid metal handle. The hinged door opens easily for placing a pillar candle or tea lights inside, and the ventilated top allows for safe use. The aged paint finish, deliberately distressed, gives it that much-loved shabby chic and French country charm that blends effortlessly with both modern and period interiors.

-

Perfect for use indoors or on a covered veranda, this lantern makes a beautiful statement piece on a console table, windowsill, or in the garden room. It can also be repurposed creatively — as a display cabinet for small treasures, a terrarium, or even a festive centrepiece with fairy lights or seasonal décor.
