S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd. was a company of wholesale manufacturing goldsmiths and jewellers, founded in Bristol in 1826 by Solomon Blanckensee. Initially trading in Bristol, the company relocated to Birmingham shortly after. They became a limited liability company in 1887, taking over the existing business. The company had both ordinary and preference shares, with a mortgage on the company.

Founding and Early Years:

Solomon Blanckensee established the business in Bristol in 1826, initially as a dealer in jewellery. The company later moved to Birmingham.

Partnership and Incorporation:

Blanckensee initially partnered with Saul Samuel, trading as Blanckensee, Samuel & Co., and also with Simeon Joseph and Elias Samuel in Melbourne, Australia, under the name Joseph, Samuel & Co. The partnership was dissolved in 1858. S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd. was formed in 1887 to take over the existing business.

Business Operations:

The company was a wholesale manufacturer of gold and silverware. In 1902, the original £10 shares were divided into £1 shares. In 1904, the company issued 50,000 preference shares, in addition to the existing ordinary shares. The company's authorized capital was £140,000, with £90,000 in ordinary shares and £50,000 in preference shares.
