A wonderfully nostalgic framed collection featuring four charming printed illustrations by celebrated British artist Mabel Lucie Attwell, renowned for her rosy-cheeked children, gentle humour and sentimental scenes of childhood.

Each image carries the artist’s printed Mabel Lucie Attwell facsimile signature within the illustration. These signatures form part of the printed designs and are not hand-signed.

The pictures have been carefully arranged in a long cream-coloured mount and presented within an attractive, richly figured wood-grain frame. Mabel Lucie Attwell’s designs were issued as postcards by early publishers and were also reproduced by later licensed publishers. In this instance, the cards have been permanently adhered to the backing board, meaning their reverse sides cannot be examined without risking damage.

As the publisher’s details, series numbers and any postal markings are concealed, we cannot confirm whether these are original early postcard issues or later vintage reproductions.

Condition

The piece is in genuine vintage condition and displays well.

The illustrations show general age-related toning, fading, scattered marks, light surface dirt and occasional small areas of rubbing or print loss. There is also visible discolouration and spotting to the surrounding mount.

The frame has surface wear, rubbing and small knocks consistent with age. The glass appears intact.

The reverse has been secured with old brown paper tape, with lifting, tearing and previous repairs visible around the edges and corners. The cards are fixed to the backing board and cannot be removed or inspected from behind.
