Vintage Rustic Vintage Wooden Carrying Crate / Farmhouse Display Box

A wonderfully timeworn vintage wooden carrying crate, full of rustic farmhouse character and practical decorative charm. Made from stained softwood with cut-out hand-holds to each end, slatted internal boards, metal-bound corners and an old hessian-style base/lining panel, this piece has the feel of an early-to-mid 20th century working crate or delivery tray — the sort of everyday object that has quietly earned every mark, scuff and stain.

The wood has a rich, warm, reddish-brown tone with lovely natural grain showing through, along with darker areas of wear around the rim, corners and handles. Its surface is beautifully imperfect: scratched, rubbed, marked and weathered from years of use, giving it that authentic country-house, workshop or market-store look that modern reproductions try very hard to imitate.

Perfect as a rustic display crate, kitchenalia prop, boot-room storage box, magazine holder, plant display, shop display piece or decorative storage for linens, kindling, bottles or vintage finds. It would look especially good in a farmhouse kitchen, antique-inspired interior, garden room, café display or vintage retail setting.

Condition is rustic and used, with age-related wear throughout including surface marks, staining, scuffs, knocks, scratches, worn edges, darkened areas and signs of old use. The hessian/canvas section shows age and marks, as expected. No maker’s mark visible. Best sold as a decorative vintage storage/display piece rather than for direct food use.
