A handsome matching pair of Jim Lawrence Traditional Ironwork wall lights, with beautifully simple architectural lines and a wonderfully mellow antiqued brass or old-gold finish.

Each light has a substantial rectangular backplate with stepped moulded edging, from which extends a long curved brass arm terminating in a cylindrical candle-style holder. The understated design has a distinctly traditional feel without being overly ornate, making these fittings equally at home in a Georgian-inspired interior, country house, period property or a more contemporary room where aged brass adds warmth and character.

The original Jim Lawrence Traditional Ironwork labels remain attached to the reverse, providing excellent provenance. From comparison with other examples, these appear to correspond to Jim Lawrence model 68156, which has been marketed in Old Gold/Antique Brass and other finishes.

About Jim Lawrence

Jim Lawrence is one of Britain's better-known makers of traditional lighting and architectural fittings. The business grew from Jim and Sheena Lawrence's Suffolk farmhouse in the 1990s. Jim originally established a forge on the family farm, producing items such as candlesticks and ironwork before moving increasingly into lighting. The company dates its beginnings to 1994 and today manufactures lighting and home fittings from its workshops in Hadleigh, Suffolk.

The firm has retained a strong emphasis on British manufacture and traditional metalworking; its current lighting continues to be made and hand-finished in Suffolk, including fittings produced using traditional brass-working techniques.

This earlier “Traditional Ironwork” branding is particularly appealing on pre-owned examples and gives the pair a little more character than anonymous modern reproduction lighting.

Condition

Pre-owned vintage/older Jim Lawrence fittings with attractive age-related patina, surface marks, tarnishing and variations to the finish, all of which suit the antiqued character of the lights. Please study the photographs as these form an important part of the description.

Both retain their original maker's labels. Candle bulbs are shown fitted for photographic purposes. ( Not tested)

As these are hard-wired electrical fittings, we recommend that they are checked and installed by a suitably qualified electrician before use.
