A charming piece of 1970s British social history, this vintage Royal Silver Jubilee tin was originally produced as a souvenir edition for writing paper and envelopes by Spicers Limited, Sawston, Cambridge. Made in England, it commemorates Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee, marking the years 1952–1977.

The tin has a classic cream and silver-toned design, with decorative scrollwork, royal insignia, flags, crown detail and the wording “Royal Silver Jubilee” to the lid and sides. Inside the lid, the original printed wording reads:

“A Souvenir edition of Writing Paper and Envelopes by Spicers Limited, Sawston, Cambridge.”

Spicers were a well-known British paper and stationery company, and this tin would originally have held commemorative writing paper and envelopes — a lovely reminder of the days when special occasions were marked with proper correspondence and beautifully presented stationery.

This is now an empty vintage tin, ideal for collectors of royal memorabilia, Jubilee souvenirs, vintage stationery, British social history, or decorative storage. It would look wonderful styled on a desk, bookshelf, dresser or in a vintage shop display.

Condition:

This tin is in used vintage condition with visible age-related wear.
