A fascinating little piece of spiritual and social history, this vintage booklet, Mystic Art of Breathing, was written by Ralph M. Lewis and published by the Rosicrucian Order (AMORC) as part of its Leisure Hour Series B.

Originally copyrighted in 1950, this particular edition is believed to date from the mid-1960s and was printed in England.

With its distinctive pale green paper covers, elegant typography and charming illustration of a pendulum clock, this modest publication offers a glimpse into the world of mid-20th-century mysticism and alternative spiritual thought.

A Little History

Ralph Maxwell Lewis (1904–1987) was a prominent American author and mystic who served as Imperator, or international leader, of the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC) from 1939 until his death.

The Rosicrucian Order promoted the study of philosophy, mysticism and the mysteries of human existence. Its Leisure Hour Series consisted of twelve concise publications covering subjects including psychic phenomena, self-healing, cosmic consciousness and spiritual development.

These affordable little booklets were intended to introduce readers to complex philosophical ideas in an accessible format.

Condition

Complete and in good vintage condition, with light age-related handling wear and minor creasing to the green paper covers. The printed text remains clear and legible.

A lovely surviving example of a specialist publication from the period.
