A wonderfully timeworn probably antique glass hip flask, dating approximately from the late 19th to early 20th century with a clear moulded glass body, rounded shoulders and a removable silver-coloured metal screw cap.

The lower half of the flask is protected by its original textured leather covering, now beautifully distressed through decades of handling and use. The dark leather has worn through in places to reveal warm brown tones beneath, giving the flask a particularly attractive, authentic patina. Rather than detracting from the piece, this wear tells the story of something that was genuinely carried and used.

The substantial glass body allows the contents to remain visible, while the threaded metal collar and screw cap give it the classic form associated with travelling and gentleman's spirit flasks of the early to mid-20th century.

There are no obvious maker's marks or hallmarks visible, so we would describe the cap and collar simply as silver-coloured metal rather than silver or silver plate.

Condition: Good vintage condition with considerable age-related character. The glass has surface scratches, marks and some internal/cloudy residue consistent with previous use. The leather covering is heavily worn, rubbed and distressed with areas of surface loss and cracking. The metal fittings have scratches, tarnishing and general wear. The cap unscrews as shown. A cracking little piece of vintage barware and social history, ideal for a flask collection, gentleman's dressing-room display, vintage bar setting or as an atmospheric prop.
