Vintage 1970s Art Deco Revival Powder Compact – Cream & Brown – Mirror & Applicator

A stylish vintage powder compact dating to around the 1970s, with a wonderfully graphic Art Deco Revival design in contrasting cream and deep chocolate brown.

The compact has a sleek rectangular hard-plastic case with gently rounded edges and a simple, elegant two-tone finish. Opened, it reveals an oval mirror set into the lid, together with a circular recess originally intended to hold pressed face powder. A narrow compartment to the front holds the surviving small pink-handled double-ended cosmetic applicator.

The strong geometric styling reflects the renewed interest in Art Deco design during the 1960s and 1970s, giving the compact a distinctly glamorous retro appearance.

The compact measures approximately:

8.5 cm x 7.5 cm x 1 cm when closed.

Condition

A genuine vintage item showing age-related wear. There is some surface marking and discolouration to the case, together with noticeable age-related spotting and deterioration to the mirror silvering, particularly to the mirror inside the lid. Please study the photographs carefully as these form an important part of the condition description.

The case opens and closes and the small cosmetic applicator remains present.

No maker's name has been identified, so we have deliberately avoided attributing the compact to a particular manufacturer. The material appears to be moulded hard plastic rather than Bakelite.
