A wonderfully decorative vintage spice bottle set, comprising four clear glass bottles with fitted metal mounts and domed screw-top lids, all presented together on their original rectangular metal-framed glass tray.

Each bottle has a beautifully simple rounded form, finished at the base with a hand-worked metal sleeve featuring an attractive undulating edge. The matching metal lids are topped with small rings from which hang individual decorative tassels in turquoise blue, bronze brown, soft pink and cream – a particularly charming detail which gives the set plenty of character.

The four bottles would originally have been used for storing and serving different spices or seasonings, with the coloured tassels perhaps helping to distinguish one from another.

The accompanying tray has a reflective glass centre surrounded by a broad, lightly hammered metal border and stands on small raised corner feet. The aged surface and natural patination of the metalwork give the whole set a wonderfully timeworn appearance.

Likely dating from around the mid-20th century, the set has an attractive Eastern or North African influence, although as there are no visible maker's marks we would prefer not to attribute it to a particular country or manufacturer.

A lovely piece of vintage kitchenalia and a particularly decorative addition to an eclectic kitchen, spice cupboard or open shelving display.

Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related tarnishing, oxidation, rubbing and surface marks to the metalwork. The glass has minor signs of use and the tassels show some age and variation. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
