Full of character and vintage charm, this wonderfully unusual black glass bottle depicts a cheerful gentleman wearing a magnificent top hat, smart jacket and decorative waistcoat.

Beautifully moulded with an expressive smiling face, detailed clothing and hands resting in front of him, this distinctive bottle is a delightful example of novelty glassware.

The tall top hat forms the neck of the bottle, complete with a removable cork stopper. Its deep, almost black glass has a wonderfully glossy finish, catching the light to reveal the carefully moulded details.

History & Manufacture

The underside is embossed with the words **VETRO BREV**, together with additional moulded markings.

The inscription is Italian in origin, with *Vetro* meaning glass and *Brev* referring to a patent or patented design.

Although the precise glass manufacturer remains unidentified, the markings offer an interesting connection to European glass production and patented novelty bottle designs.

Believed to date from the twentieth century, this character-shaped bottle may originally have been intended for a spirit, liqueur or another bottled product, although its original contents have not been established.

Condition

Attractive vintage condition with glossy black glass and well-defined moulded decoration.

Includes a removable cork stopper. Please refer to the photographs for the condition and embossed markings.

Sold as a vintage decorative collectable, not tested for storing liquids.
