Vintage Limoges Peint à la Main Porcelain Serving Plate with Gilt Metal Handles – Pink Roses & Rococo Gilt Decoration

A beautiful vintage French Limoges porcelain serving plate or cake plate, richly decorated in soft pink, white and gold with delicate floral sprays, a central rose bouquet, and ornate gilt metal handles in a Rococo Revival style.

This elegant decorative plate has a wonderfully romantic look, with hand-painted or hand-finished floral decoration featuring pink roses, blue forget-me-not-style flowers, green foliage and golden scrollwork. Around the border are pretty pink panels with gilded flourishes, giving the piece a refined French salon feel. The gilt metal rim and ornate floral handles add extra drama and make this a very displayable piece, ideal for a vintage dressing table, sideboard, cabinet, afternoon tea setting or decorative wall/shelf display.

The underside is marked “Peint à la Main – Limoges”, meaning hand painted, with a crowned lower-case “e” monogram. The plate also retains its original gold foil Limoges label with the same crowned “e” mark, which is a lovely surviving detail. The exact decorator or retailer behind this particular mark has not been firmly identified, so we have described it carefully as a vintage Limoges-marked piece rather than attributing it to one of the major named Limoges factories.

There is also a small painted number “13” on the base. This is most likely an internal decorator’s number, pattern reference, control mark or workshop reference, rather than a date or edition number.

Limoges porcelain has been celebrated since the late 18th century, when the Limoges region of France became famous for its fine white porcelain. This piece belongs to the later decorative tradition of Limoges porcelain: elegant, ornamental, romantic and highly collectable for lovers of French vintage interiors.

The plate measures approximately 28cm in diameter. The gilt metal handles measure approximately 9cm x 3cm each.

Condition is good vintage condition overall, with age-related wear consistent with use and display. There is some light wear and patina to the gilt metal mounts, minor surface marks, and some age-related discolouration around the underside foot rim. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.

A charming vintage Limoges porcelain serving plate with a very decorative look — perfect for collectors of French porcelain, vintage Limoges, Rococo-style décor, floral china, gilt metal mounted porcelain, or pretty display pieces for the vintage home.
