# Antique Kinjo China Nippon Hand Painted Porcelain Trinket Pot with Lid – c.1900–1921

9 cm round

7 cm tall

A charming antique Japanese porcelain trinket pot, beautifully decorated with a picturesque hand-painted countryside scene and dating to the early 20th century.

Made under the **Kinjo China** name, this delightful little lidded pot features a tranquil rural landscape with a grazing cow, a white swan swimming on a blue pond, trees, rustic fencing and a small red-roofed cottage.

The softly blended greens, ochres, blues and warm golden tones give the scene a particularly nostalgic quality.

The rounded porcelain body is finished with a rich dark brown decorative band, embellished with gilt floral motifs, delicate trailing foliage and fine dotted borders. The original domed lid carries the principal landscape decoration, creating a lovely display piece.

**Maker's History**

The underside bears the green printed mark **"Kinjo China – Hand Painted – Nippon"**, accompanied by a decorative emblem.

Kinjo China is a name found on Japanese porcelain produced for the export market during the early 20th century. The precise manufacturing factory has not been firmly established.

The word *Nippon*, meaning Japan, was commonly used on Japanese export porcelain between 1891 and 1921, particularly on goods destined for the American market.

During this period, Japanese porcelain manufacturers and decorating workshops produced colourful hand-painted wares for Western homes, often featuring romantic landscapes, flowers and elaborate gilded ornamentation.

This charming pot is a lovely surviving example of that tradition.

**Condition**

Antique condition with visible age-related wear, particularly to the gilded decoration and dark brown borders. Some surface rubbing and wear are apparent, consistent with its considerable age.small line marl on lid probably a firing mark?

The interior retains its attractive white glazed finish. The original lid is present.

Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
